CNC Machining (Contract Services)

Precision milling and turning for OEMs, production lines, and contract manufacturing.

SSI provides contract CNC machining services for customers who need a responsive, reliable shop for precision components. This is a dedicated part of our business focused on machining work for other companies—supporting one-offs, short runs, repair/rework, and repeat production. Our approach is practical manufacturing: clear requirements, the right fixturing, and repeatable processes that produce parts that meet print.

CNC milling setup with production workholding for repeatable parts.

At a Glance

  • Precision CNC milling and turning
  • Short runs and one-off parts (no high minimums)
  • Prototype, short-run, and repeat production programs
  • Custom fixturing and workholding to support accuracy and repeatability
  • All commonly machined industrial materials

Materials

  • Aluminum alloys
  • Carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Tool steels
  • Plastics (Delrin, UHMW, and other common industrial plastics)
  • Other commonly machined materials (by request)

Capabilities

CNC Milling

  • Plates, brackets, housings, fixtures, and tooling components
  • Profiles, pockets, patterns, and tapped/reamed features
  • Multi-part setups using repeatable workholding

CNC Turning

  • Shafts, spacers, bushings, sleeves, and threaded components
  • Shoulders, grooves, and close-tolerance diameters
  • Support for longer parts as required (tailstock/steady methods as needed)

Custom Fixturing & Workholding

  • Fixture design/build as required to hold parts securely and repeatably
  • Production workholding setups for efficient short-run machining
  • Repeat setups for recurring orders and revision-controlled programs

Volume & Program Support

  • One-off and emergency parts
  • Short-run production (low minimums)
  • Prototype development
  • Medium production (100–5,000+)
  • Ongoing contract manufacturing with repeat jobs and revision control

Whether you need a single critical part or a structured repeat program, SSI scales the process, fixturing, and inspection approach to match the job.

Typical Parts We Machine

  • Tooling plates, fixtures, and fixture components
  • Mounts, brackets, machine components, and custom hardware
  • Housings and structural components
  • Turned shafts, spacers, bushings, and threaded parts
  • Replacement parts, repair components, and rework support

Quality & Consistency

  • Drawing review up front to confirm critical features and tolerances
  • Process planning and fixturing that supports repeatability
  • In-process inspection with documented checks as required
  • First-article and repeat-run consistency for production programs
  • Practical manufacturability feedback when a print can be improved for cost or lead time

How It Works

  1. Review & quote — Send drawings/CAD, material, quantity, and due date. We confirm questions up front.
  2. Program & fixture — CAM programming, tooling selection, and custom fixturing/workholding as required for consistent parts.
  3. Machine — CNC milling/turning completed to print requirements.
  4. Inspect & deliver — Parts are checked and packaged for delivery. Inspection reports are available when required.

Why SSI Machining

  • Short-run friendly: built to support one-offs and low-quantity work without overcomplicating the process
  • Fixturing capability: custom workholding that improves repeatability and reduces variation
  • Clear communication: fast feedback when a drawing needs clarification
  • Production mindset: repeatability, revision control, and on-time delivery for ongoing programs

Project Inputs (for quoting)

  • CAD model or drawing (STEP/IGES/SolidWorks/PDF)
  • Material specification (or request a recommendation)
  • Quantity and expected repeat frequency
  • Critical tolerances/features
  • Finish/coating requirements (if any)
  • Delivery date and shipping method
