Pack-out verification

Pack and Track Station

Guided packing with verification before order completion

The Pack and Track Station is a solution architecture for order fulfillment workflows where packing accuracy and traceability matter. The station guides the operator through each line item and enforces verification steps (barcode, weight, and/or vision) before allowing the order to be completed.

Verification method, workflow logic, and integrations are defined during scoping based on the customer’s order data and packing process.

How it works

From pack event to traceable shipment record

Use this flow to scope pack verification, label or code checks, exception control, and records tied to the packed item.

  1. Detect

    Start the pack event

A scan, operator prompt, sensor, or workflow step identifies the item, container, label, or order at packout.

  2. Verify

    Match contents and labels

The station compares required items, quantities, serials, barcodes, labels, and pack rules against the expected job data.

  3. Decide

    Control packout status

The workflow returns pass, mismatch, missing item, label issue, hold, or supervisor-review status before release.

  4. Reject / log

    Stop bad packs

Wrong contents, missing scans, duplicate serials, or label mismatches trigger prompts, holds, and exception records.

  5. Report

    Trace the packed shipment

Pack events, item history, serials, operator actions, exports, database records, or WMS/ERP handoffs are added as scoped.

Typical scope

Typical scope

Use these details to frame station constraints, integration needs, and quote inputs before sending parts, samples, or order data.

Line speed
Scoped to operator flow, scan count, weighing time, printing time, and required verification steps.
Product spacing
Station layout is based on package size, item handling, scanner reach, scale placement, and label location.
Inspection type
Barcode, weight, vision, and operator confirmation checks can be mixed by workflow.
Reject method
Operator hold, blocked label release, pack-out stop, exception prompt, or quality review workflow as scoped.
Data outputs
Completion logs and CSV export are typical; database, label history, and image records are optional.
PLC/MES integration
Printers, scales, scanners, PLC I/O, databases, ERP, or WMS handoffs are scoped per site.
What SSI needs to quote
Order data format, packing workflow, item types, packaging, verification methods, station volume, operator steps, labels, records, and exports.
Buyer fit

Fit, scope, and quote requirements

Use this section to decide whether a guided station can reduce pack-out errors before labels, shipments, and records are released.

Best fit for

  • Packing stations with mixed orders or SKU variation
  • Teams that need step-by-step operator verification
  • Orders that require content checks before shipment
  • Workflows that need labels or records tied to completion

Common applications

  • Barcode item matching
  • Weight checks against expected contents
  • Vision-assisted presence or count checks
  • Label print and release rules after verification

What it verifies

  • Correct item, quantity, or order status as scoped
  • Operator completion steps and authorized overrides
  • Configured barcode, weight, or vision checks
  • Completion records for audit or internal quality use

Integration requirements

  • Order data source or scan/import method
  • Scanner, scale, vision, or label hardware selection
  • Operator screen and station layout
  • ERP, WMS, database, or printer handoff needs

What SSI needs to quote

  • Order data format and packing workflow
  • Item types, packaging, and verification methods
  • Expected station volume and operator steps
  • Label, print, record, and export requirements
